Hotel rural los frutales – charming hotels

Its black stone architecture, its well kept steep streets, its history in every corner, makes Patones de Arriba a paradise for lovers of culture and history. It is said that it managed to remain intact after going unnoticed by the French, who in the middle of the war did not notice its existence. But it is only a legend, the reality is that it was ruled for centuries by different kings who were called King of Patones, a name that comes from his surname, Patón.

You will find different restaurants where you can enjoy the gastronomy of the land. And if you prefer to spend a few days in this wonderful place, there are also different hotels and rural houses where to stay.

Its streets and landscapes make it a real open-air museum. As far as gastronomy is concerned, it is the municipality with more hotels and restaurants by number of existing houses in it, offering different varieties of the land, all of them prepared with exquisite taste.

Patones de Arriba is an essential destination for rural tourism in the Community of Madrid. It is less than 40 minutes from downtown on the road to Burgos. It has everything for a weekend of tranquility and contact with nature: good hiking trails, walks through the village, good gastronomy, charming rural hotels…

The history of Patones is very curious. Although in the video we tell you in detail, we can tell you that the Patones were a village of Goths who hid in these forests with the entry of the Muslims. They lived here for centuries because neither the Moors first, nor the French Napoleon later, gave them to delve into the ravine in this area.

It is a delight, as we say, to walk around Patones de Arriba. All two-story houses, all in slate, many of them with an oven attached to the kitchen … we slept in one of these houses, in the rural hotel La Fuente. Highly recommended.

At the end of the route we had a beer in El Rey de Patones, one of the most mythical restaurants of the village. There they will tell you the story of the King of Patones, who apparently was an influential figure until well into the eighteenth century.
